I kind of don’t do sports any more but this is just kind of interesting. The guy who runs The Big Lead (who’s always been nice to your hero editor) has come out of the shadows in an SI.com interview as Jason McIntyre, an editor for US Weekly.

The person behind The Big Lead is a 31-year-old former sportswriter who runs the Web site from his home in Brooklyn. He recently left his job as an assistant news editor at US Weekly and has been working full time on The Big Lead since January. That month, according to Google Analytics, TheBigLead.com had 2.07 million page views and 429,949 unique visitors. “At the blog’s best, it would strive to be The Colbert Report meets Drudge Report,” says Jason McIntyre, the co-creator and principal writer and editor of The Big Lead.

McIntyre decided to reveal his identity following a number of conversations with me. “It never really crossed my mind until now,” he says. “I had opportunities. NPR asked me to come on, and I’ve done some interviews anonymously.”

His decision to go public comes five weeks after the writers of another popular anonymous sports site — the entertaining and snarky FireJoeMorgan.com — came out of the blogging closet to their readers. “The arguments against anonymity were overwhelming,” says Michael Schur, one of FJM’s founders and a writer and producer for NBC’s The Office.

Should sites such as The Big Lead put a face or byline behind their opinions and reporting? It’s a question that will continue to percolate as more sports bloggers extend into reportage.

Eh I don’t really have any jokes about this, but that article is an interesting read. Not only because of the issues of journalistic integrity but also because do you realize that I’m fucking competing against a guy who writes for the most successful sitcom currently on TV right now for readership? What the fuck dude? Why not put me in a gunfight against a guy with an Uzi and give me a Super Soaker filled with hobo cum to defend myself? UNFAIR.

I will, however,take this opportunity to reveal my true identity as well. I’m Bruce Wayne. Man-about-town, haberdasher. I dabble in government technologies as well as crime fighting. But you can never break through my icy exterior. You might say, you can swing away with your Bat, man, but you’ll be able to hit on my secret. Wink.
