Oct.13.2008 Bow down before Anthony Jeselnik

I saw this dude on the very funny Down and Dirty with Jim Norton on HBO last week and didn’t get around to posting this clip until today, but it’s worth it. I’m inclined to think if you like the humor on this site, you’ll dig Anthony Jeselnik, the comedian in the clip below.

I’m genuinely curious to hear what you guys think about this guy though. I think this is one of the funnier stand-up acts I’ve seen in years but a couple other people I know with similar mindsets found him to be, shall we say, not so good. I think the brutality of the jokes and the delivery are great, but the format miiiiight be hard for some people to get into.

Thoughts?

I thought it was pretty funny, not anything amazing though. I think the problem is that his act just takes himself a little too seriously, which I guess is the point, but it just didnt click for me.

i think that was freaking hilarious. the brady bunch joke was awesome. he reminds me of ryan philippe from cruel intentions a bit. in a good, slightly less gay way.

I couldn’t believe how many people didn’t laugh at Anthony’s material. I think he’s brilliant. His timing is a lot like Mitch Hedberg’s and he mixes Hedberg’s off-beat observations with that no-holds-barred attitude. But he doesn’t try too hard to offend. It just comes naturally
