Jan.28.2008 Scarlett Johansson is a silly goose
Scarlett Johansson always struck me as an intelligent woman, so I’m surprised that she doesn’t quite understand how engagements work. Apparently she thinks she’s engaged to Barack Obama because she says so.
Scarlett Johansson is a one-man kind of gal. That lucky (albeit unlikely) guy? Presidential hopeful Barack Obama.
“I am engaged … to Barack Obama,” Johansson, 23, announced to Associated Press reporters as she returned from a her USO tour to the Persian Gulf. “My heart belongs to Barack, and that is who I am currently, finally, engaged to. Yes.”
Joking Johansson, who stepped out for Obama at the Iowa caucus, was actually deflecting a question regarding whether she was engaged to fellow actor and current boyfriend Ryan Reynolds, the AP reports. Obama, 46, for the record, is happily married.
Some people are saying that this was just a crafty dodge of rumors that Scarlett’s engaged to my heterosexual man crush Ryan Reynolds.
I think though, it’s just a great way to help out Barack Obama’s campaign. Coming off of a big win at the South Carolina democratic primary, what could help buoy Obama’s chances around the country better than a white woman aspiring to be with him? Because gee, if there’s one thing America loves, it’s interracial relationships, imagined or otherwise. Why not change his name to Tom Robinson and have him take in Boo Radley as his chief political adviser while we’re at it too.
