Mar.07.2007 NEWSFLASH: BIG BOPPER STILL DEAD
In a story that hasn’t escaped the public consciousness in 48 years (like seriously, my past 48 years have been torturous not knowing the truth of the matter), the Big Bopper was indeed not murdered.
There have been rumors a gun might have been fired on board the plane and that the Big Bopper might have survived the crash and died trying to get help.
“There was no indication of foul play,” Bass said in a telephone interview from Beaumont. “There are fractures from head to toe. Massive fractures. … (He) died immediately. He didn’t crawl away. He didn’t walk away from the plane.”
Jay Richardson, who performs in tribute shows as “The Big Bopper Jr.,” didn’t know his father, who gained fame with the hit “Chantilly Lace.” His mother was pregnant with him when his father died.
Richardson watched Bass open the coffin on Tuesday and observed his examination. He said he was pleased with the findings because it proved the investigators “knew what they were talking about 48 years ago.”
“I was hoping to put the rumors to rest,” he said.
I can think of no better usage of a coroner’s time than examining the long-dead corpse of a humorously named pop star. Also, jeez, you think Anna Nicole’s autopsy results are going to take a while and you remember that celebrity (non-alien) autopsies often take half-centuries. Really makes you think.
So yeah, take that TMZ.com, Entertainment Tonight, Pat O’Brien, and all the gossip sites that clamor to every rumor about the Big Bopper. You people have made your living off of slandering the Big Bopper and speculating on his every move for too long. He didn’t attempt to commit suicide either after scratching 666 in his forehead. So what if the Big Bopper likes to show his genitals to paparazzi? He’s a sexy man and that doesn’t mean you can judge him. So let the rumors rest, guys.
I did hear that he once killed several strippers while humming Chantilly Love, though those claims might be unfounded..
