Dec.04.2007 Britney was almost replaced
Britney Spears was going to miss a music video shoot but decided not to when she found out that she was going to be replaced by a younger, “hotter” singer, Samantha Jade…so sayeth Page Six.
Britney Spears nearly skipped her chance to make a $500,000 music video - but showed up when she realized her Jive Records label was about to give the shot to a younger, up-and-coming singer.
“Jive hired Wayne Isham to direct, had all the dancers there - hair, makeup and everything,” our source added. “But she refused to come. Jive was really upset. They were already paying everyone overtime, and finally Britney showed up 12 hours late - but only after they told her they were going to give the video shoot to another Jive artist, Samantha Jade.”
Jade, a rising star on the label, was told to be on call to shoot her video for her single “Eyes on Me,” the insider said. Rather than write off the shoot’s expense, the record company was set to have Jade step in and use the team assembled for Spears’ video.
“They were going to recalibrate it for Samantha, because it was too expensive to just scrap,” our source said. “Britney finally showed up when she realized a new, younger, hotter girl would take her slot.”
So hey, I realize hotness is pretty subjective and that compared to Britney, specifically the Britney in photos like this, my sockpuppet Morty could be the next big pop star. But Morty doesn’t sing…at least, not pop music. Morty’s more artistic than that, quite frankly, so he only does jazz. But kids today really don’t appreciate jazz. So, while I’m a big supporter of Morty and his activities, I really doubt he has the mainstream appeal one would need to make waves.
Oh yeah, where was I? Right…Samantha Jade is this “hot young thing”? Really? She looks like she’s a 45 year-old chainsmoking mother of three. I’d be far more comfortable with her neglecting me as her child than I would fantasizing about her. But maybe that’s just me.
On the plus side, Britney’s the #1 most searched Yahoo term. Samantha Jade’s some chick that sounds like a porn star. Point Britney.
UPDATE: Apparently she looks hot sometimes. I stand by my initial sentiments
