Oct.18.2006 So what is this?
This is a website on something I have dubbed “The Internet” (though i also considered the name “Chris’s Place of Wacky Crazy Knowledge and Porn” but found it to be too self-serving. Pretty accurate though.).
More specifically, this is a website based on riding the coattails of another website I once ran with two adorably befuddled pals. You see, that website had a lot of readers. And while that website was a great release for a while, there was such a pressure to turn out quality life tales that, quite frankly, I burnt out. Throw in my addiction to licking Post-It notes (the glue makes me feel pretty) and you have a grade-A formula for the death of the Blog of Hilarity.
But recently, as recent as a couple weeks ago, people whom I hadn’t seen in a while were talking to me about the Blog of Hilarity, or BoH as it is affectionately referred to. I heard “Hey, yeah, I used to read that thing all the time” a couple of times. I heard “Hey, yeah I actually turned a couple of my friends onto it.” I even heard, “So and so says that the goal for their blog is to become as big as the Blog of Hilarity was.” While some might say, hey, why not just let it live in the past and let people think it was better than it was, I say, “HEY LET’S SHOW THEM HOW MEDIOCRE I REALLY AM!” I mean, hell, I’m in front of a computer most of the day working anyway…might as well make you, yes you dear reader, smile, titter, or perhaps…cry.
Plus like I had a blog that was successful then before the blog boom and, like, apparently, people are making money off of blogs and stuff now so I ask you, Webdor, God of the Internet, where is my cut?! YOU WANT MY BLOOD? TAKE MY BLOOD!
This new version of the Blog of Hilarity, in an effort to make things easier on me to write, will feature more different sections of things. As you will see in the coming days there’s something called “Hey look what I see” in which I will regularly post things I see that amuse me. Once I get a digital camera, pictures will accompany those HLWIS postings. We will also be featuring “Black Thoughts” from my good pal Edgar. We’ll be featuring “My DVR Hates Me,” a chronicle of the terrible shows I occasionally watch with Edgar and my Blog-of-Hilarity-co-patriarch, Tomas. Because frankly, if you haven’t seen Billy Ray Cyrus in the PAX TV show “Doc,” then you really haven’t lived.
All that and much more. And of course, the more the merrier, so if you’re interested in being a writer, get a hold of me somehow and we’ll discuss the options.
The Blog of Hilarity is back! I weep for your sanity already.
