Sep.04.2008 I HATE Sarah Palin, the GOP, the Democrats, and most of America…here’s why
So if you’ve been with me on this blog for at least a portion of its lifespan, you know I’d much rather prefer to take a lightheartedily mean-spirited look at things rather than address things directly and intellectually. I had planned on doing that in this very spot on the site today with a little list-y, linkable post on the 10 upcoming Sarah Palin scandals. It would have been funny(ish) with things like “SARAH PALIN ONCE MURDERED A PREGNANT POLAR BEAR” but I just couldn’t go through with it. This is a post I’m writing out of annoyance and to mark my feelings at the moment…skip it to more of the usual above or below if you so desire.
After watching the Republican National Convention tonight, I just cannot stand to approach this campaign with the easygoing tone I have in the past. I’m not conservative, but I’d hardly consider myself liberal either. Yes, I granted Barack Obama my crucial endorsement that will no doubt help him swing the chronic masturbator vote in his favor. But the campaign being launched against him is deceptive and disappointing in every way.
Here’s a tough pill to swallow: Barack Obama is black. Our country has undoubtedly come a long way with its capability to nominate a black man for President, let alone have him ahead in almost every poll. But while we all pat ourselves on the back for how progressive and approachable we are as a nation, let’s face facts; Barack Obama is up against our own prejudices, built upon the disdain for what’s different on the Republican side and the pat-on-the-head attitude towards minorities on the Democrat side.
Make no mistake, the left is just as guilty as the right here. By minimizing the way we see every aspect of minorities in the media, in politics, and in law, we have created a guilt complex that not only continues the racial divide in this country, but furthers it. Affirmative action, hate crimes, and similar racially-charged agendas “in favor of minorities” have not evened the playing field. Rather, they’ve just shown that we, as a nation, are so in love with ourselves as non-ethnic Americans that we couldn’t possibly allow minorities to succeed on their own merits. But as bad as liberals are with continuing to baby minorities in an effort to make spoiled white people feel less bad about being spoiled white people, conservatives are worse.
The entire Republican National Convention has been built around one theme…Barack Obama is not like us. Joe Lieberman called him an “eloquent young man”, invoking a bit of “boy” in his inflection. Mitt Romney illustrated that Michelle Obama wasn’t “like you or I” in how we believe in America. No no, we’re in a different America indeed. Rudy Giuliani continued on the same lines, talking about how Barack Obama has done nothing but received everything from an “Ivy league education to memoirs to celebrity status”, a sensitive issue to poor white Americans whose “They took our jobs” mentality scares them away from anything with a trace of melanin. And of course, there was Sarah Palin who, for all intents and purposes, may be the Miss America for the GOP.
Sarah Palin is just like you, fat housewife. She’s middle class, she pops out babies, she feeds her kids, she’s a wife, she doesn’t get “fancy politics” but she wants a better America. That stuff about her being a political snake, incapable of raising children well, having no experience in major-level politics, inconsequential. Because she’s a white American woman who’s just like us.
Nevermind her misogynistic views on a woman’s rights…you were raped? Even by a relative? Sorry, Sarah Palin wants you to pop that baby out.
Nevermind her “commitment to a greener, energy independent tomorrow”. You know how Alaska got extra money in the coffers due to its oil production? She gave that back to Alaskans rather than investing it in a better state or, crazily enough, alternative energy sources.
All that executive experience she has, according to the GOP. She built a sports arena rather than investing in a failing city infrastructure. She thought a money pit of an arena would help more than WORKING SEWERS.
But it’s all cool, right America? Because Sarah Palin is one of our people. Her inexperience? Irrelevant. Her lack of knowledge? Inconsequential. Her lack of understanding how the REAL world works? Who cares.
This is what we have ahead of us over the coming months. A continuing progression of the culture of fear with a worthless vagina as the face for it all. It’s everything to love and hate about America at once.
I don’t expect my insane ramblings to guide you one way or another. I don’t even expect to feel so annoyed come morning. I’m a lazy man. And one who gives up on things quickly. But remember, even though the Democrats may, worst case scenario, be selling you on false hopes, the Republican party is conning you through your most basic xenophobic fears and outright mistruths. They both probably suck. But maybe this time, we can have the lesser of two evils.

I like Hillary better, and didn’t quite like Obama, but now with this Sarah Palin, Obama looks like a saint to me. Look at her, what a slut! Palin has such a messed up family, but it is not surprising anyway. Those “model” republican families try to show the world a perfect image, but every one of them has skeletons in their closet. Sarah Palin looks slutty to me, she is the typical kind that sleep her way to the top (I know plenty of her type at work). What is her talent? What is her education background? did she even have any professional degrees? Just saying tough things does not make her a valid. She is preaching family values, now she has this confirmed slut daughter. I am sure they will force her to get married, poor girl and the poor boy. What a messed up party, what a messed up family! She has way too many children, if everyone reproduce like her, American will have billions of people soon! How irresponsible to bring so many children to the world without thinking about other people’s rights. The whole idea of you have have as many children as you want is completely wrong and whose who keep churning out babies is just draining resources from other people.

While I appreciate the sanctimonious, soccer mom, cuntish tone you take, judging by the number of comments on here and across the Internet (not to mention the thousands of visitors I’ve gotten in the past two days who are searching “I hate Sarah Palin”), I’m not alone in my thoughts. Sarah Palin is a joke of a VP candidate and, frankly, an affront to every young woman out there.
Yes, it’s amazing that a woman is the VP candidate for the first time. But what’s not amazing is that Sarah Palin isn’t a success in business. She wasn’t a community leader or a leader of any kind. She was just a mom who, apparently, didn’t even do too good of a job at that. As mayor, she managed her town poorly, putting it over $20 mil in debt. She’s lied publicly numerous times. Every account of her from Alaskans is mediocre at best and extremely unflattering at worst. She’s not capable at any level and is only where she is because she appeals to the most base, harmful views the general public have of women. Never has anyone so simultaneously broken the glass ceiling and reinforced it at the same time.
But yes, my blog is totally for my ego, that’s true. So see, even a broken clock is right twice a day!

There are thousands of things to criticize when it comes to Sarah Palin, but you can’t criticize her for giving the revenue from oil taxes to alaskans. First of all, the Alaskan Permanent Fund is actually an amazing concept and is the closest thing we have in the US to a Basic Income Guarantee.

I am glad to see that I am not the only person who is doen right bitter about Sarah Palin as a choice for VP. I thought that McCain was not all that bad and if we had to pick the wrong guy again this year at least it would not be as bad the last time, but his choice of a VP makes me question his judgement. Not only does she have no real experience, she has no relevant education. Majoring in journalism and being a sports announcer does not familiarize you with the law. How are you supposed to uphold something you have no clue about. Since when is an Ivy League education a bad thing. It wasn’t taboo when Yale graduate George Bush was running.
Since when do pregnant teens get a standing ovation for not having an abortion. I am a pro-choice Christian and a former high school teacher. Trust me I have seen my share of pregnant teens. It is not something to applaud. When girls in high profile become pregnant, it sends the wrong message to other girls. They think if Jamie Lynn and Bristol can do it, it must be cool. I do not think either of them is a slut, they just made bad choices. It happens and no one is perfect but to say well at least she did not get an abortion does not excuse the previous bad (irresponsible) behavior.
The other thing that really concerns me other than all of her views on everything from global warming and energy to homeland security, is that as a mother myself and a feminist with three daughters, how can you take on such an awesome responsibility when your family needs you so much. You have a teen who is about to become a mother. Does it stand to reason she will need her own? You have a special needs infant who will definitely need his mother. Not in between meetings with heads of state or press conferences, but every day at the most inconvenient times. I do not mean to insinuate that she should remain in the kitchen, cookin’ and a mindin’ but NOTHING comes before my kids. When one of them needs me, I need to be able to tell who ever I am scheduled to meet with to kiss my ass while I tend to them. The VP is not in that position.
McCain is not a young man. Can we really see this lady running our country, shot gun in one hand and a beer in the other. I know rednecks are scared of a black president but there are worse things. Maybe we should wait until all of the jobs are shipped overseas to act. Maybe we should let the gun loving Palin start another war before we end the one in because our resources are stretched quite enough. Maybe we should repeal ROe V. Wade so there can be more unwed mothers on welfare with no means of correcting their own situations. Maybe we should just wait and see like we did last time.
The fact of the matter is, the uneducated are driving the McCain/Palin campaign. They are resentful of educated people for some reason. Anyone with half a brain knew that Kerry was a better choice than Bush. Bush needed an earpeice to get through the debates but people were afraid of electing someone that was smarter than they were, so they voted for the dummy they could relate to. Its ridiculous! We are about to do the same thing again. God help us and God bless America.

OK - you all hate Sarah Palin and can’t think of enough evil things to say about her. Spoken (or written)like true Democrats if I may say. I’m a Brit living in Canada, but I would rather live in the USA (a truly great country). But why the vile diatribes against Palin? OK, she’s a mother of five (with a disabled infant), a state Governor, and pro-lifer, pro-gun and anti gay. But isn’t one allowed to make one’s own choices in America? Is not the USA a democracy? Isn’t freedom of expression a cherished right? You can demonize Palin all you like (and many of you are truly enjoying the experience), but what really makes you better than the Republicans you love to vilify? I’m curious to know the answer, but without the same venom and profanity than some of you cannot seem to leave out of your posts especially DavidDC.

Hi Bill.
While I typically don’t enjoy such venomous discussions myself (mostly because I think once it escalates to a certain level, it becomes nonproductive), I understand it.
I think I speak for everyone here when I say that the venom comes from the fact that our country has been led so far down the path it’s on thanks to the Bush administration, et al., and those of us who desperately want to see change are nauseated over the fact that someone like her could easily end up in office. By all counts she is overzealous, if not a borderline fanatic, when it comes to being pro-life. As a woman, I feel very threatened by the idea of anyone like that in a position of power because women in this country have fought hard to win the rights we enjoy today and electing officials that are in a position to begin to erode those rights is a threat to our freedoms. I don’t think any person should be able to decide what is “right” for another person, especially when it comes to our own bodies.
Her extreme views on not teaching children about sex is another dangerous position, as is clearly evidenced in the situation of her own daughter. Had that girl been educated in what her body can do and ways to PREVENT pregnancy in the first place, she may not be in the boat she is in. I don’t think anyone can argue about the detriment to teenagers when they become pregnant, whether they choose to become a mother to the child or give it away.
There are many many more things I could point out about why the venom, but in a nutshell I think it comes down to the fact that we don’t see anything patriotic or American about this woman. Our country is a shambles due to its current administration, and we are aghast at the way McCain has done as Bush did to win votes by wooing the extreme Christian right by picking this inexperienced, rather loose canon with scarily extreme views on everything we hold precious.
I hope I have clarified, in a nonvenomous way, why we all feel so strongly against her :-)

I really have had a tough time believing that there are actual people that think she is a good choice for VP. She won’t give any interviews, or answer any questions at these Town Hall meetings, now she wont cooperate with authorities that are heading up they investigation in Alaska (and incidentally there are 5 people in charge of the investigation 3 of which are Republicans). She’s obviously hiding something “I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THAT IS”, yea know if it looks like a pig, and walks like a pig, and sounds like a pig all things being considered it’s probably a pig, I’m sorry was that sexist… ha ha ha. Republicans stop drinking the Kool-Aid and get informed before you hurt your self and the rest of the country.
So, “Bill” hates Sarah Palin, calls her daughter a “whore” and just can’t believe that there are people out there who think that she is a good choice for VP. I would love to live in a country that didn’t define itself by one central issue: right to life or right to choose. I think our country is the only country to give this issue so much attention :-( The ironic thing is that the people who benefit least from a Republican government are the ones that keep voting it in, based on that ONE issue. And many of the people who would benefit (economically speaking anyway), like the Hollywoodcrowd, from a Republican ticket are voting Democrat, once again, based on this one issue.
I am oftentimes a fence sitter, but what always pushes me left is this one issue because it is so important to me.
It makes me wonder how much differently this country would be run if there were truly a “separation of church and state” — because clearly we do not have that.
And we will be even farther from that if Sarah Palin gets to teach her Creationism beliefs in public schools. Those beliefs are 100 percent based on her religion, so that obviously brings religion, HER religion, into public schools where other children are being taught completely different religious beliefs in their homes, yet the tax payers would be paying to have Sarah Palin teach their children HER religion.
I, for one, have a hard time swallowing the notion of Adam and Eve and a man who could levitate above water, and all of the other crazy tales that go along with being an Evangelical Christian, and I would be really pissed off if my child came home from school, confused, asking me to explain something that makes no sense. I think religion should be taught in church, not public schools.
Truthfully, I think this country is headed backwards instead of forwards and I am really glad I am past child-bearing age because I would hate to be a victim of rape or incest, pregnant under an anti-abortion government :-(

I have called this phenomenon “The Dumbing Down of America”. As long as these intellectually challenged (morons) people have their Cocoa Puffs in the morning, the mail is still gettin’ delivered, and the hardest decision they make is whether to watch “Dancing with the Stars”, “American Idol”, or WWF Wrestle Mania, everything is okey-dokey! Many are one view voters — abortion. We asked one of those types, “If you had 2 candidates, 1 was a brilliant Nobel Prize laureat in Economics and an expert in just about everything you’ld want in the President - but he/she was pro choice, and the 2nd candidate was kind of a simpleton, not experienced, & had some rather weird views of governance - BUT this one was against abortion, which one would you vote for? You guessed it — the idiot who was against abortion got the nod. Religion and the American fixation on political & social control, and this new neocon world view of extreme American Imperialism (i.e. - bullying those we don’t agree with) is bringing this country down. What it does is put in place people who believe they can not fail, no matter how undereducated & ill prepared because “God is on my side” or they believe they are “doing God’s Will” or are “Instruments of God” — sound like someone we know? Bush 43, and Palin who wants to be #44. I have nightmares of this wacko in the oval office, some disaster is unfolding, & she’s down on her knees prayin to Jesus for an answer. Well this is the first time I have ever posted a comment on a website like this. Thanks to the original poster for giving me something to read while I am in the hospital. As for me I will give you an intro into myself so you know EXACTLY why I am anti McCain/Palin.
I am a 23 year old male, college graduate, and furloughed (red laid off) airline pilot. I graduated at about the mid level in my class in December and went right off to fly from there. I watched as this country went from a “shining beacon on the hill” to a joke told between most Eurpoeans. I lost my job in August and have only been turned down while looking for a job since. Why have I, a two degree professional pilot, been turned down? Well because I am overqualified for the position (Read: they dont want to pay me what they “think airline pilots make”).
Now on to our good friend Sarah. I dislike Gov. Palin because of her beliefs. No, not her religious beliefs but her beliefs in how the world works/should work. I find it almost criminal that she even suggested banning books from a library. That alone should shock any true American to their core. No longer teaching safe sex in school? Well Mrs. Palin…what about your daugher? I bet her soon to be failed marriage (Think about what would have happened had any of YOU married your HS boyfriend or girlfriend) will help change your mind about that.
Creationism in school…I dont know what to think about this. All I can say is that I would be laughed at, hate pages would be created, and I would get hatemail if I had the audacity to try to teach our children anything that I happen to believe. The schools should be left to teach WHAT IS REAL. I shouldnt have to hear about my (someday in the future) child failing a test because he didnt believe Christ walked on water.

I’d like to pick your stupidity apart line by line, but — as it turns out — I have other things to do. I would like to take a moment to point out a couple concerns I have with your post.
You launched with this opening salvo: “I can’t believe the hate going on here.” A few words later you are calling the posters here “chicks” and “haters” who get their news from “dumbasses” and the “feminatzi” (sic) blog author, complaining that they “aren’t as good looking.” You then claim Senator Obama “hates America” with no supporting facts at all.
So just where is the hate coming from? Sounds like you have quite a bit of it pent up inside. You should really lay off the prescription pain meds and just let go. Perhaps a therapist could help.
Let me see if I can dumb this one down for you. If Obama really hated America, he wouldn’t be putting his reputation, career, and his very life on the line to lead the country. Running for president is one of the most difficult, all-consuming and patriotic things a person could do.
Obama doesn’t hate America. Rather, he sees all the potential we have for greatness — potential that’s been squandered under bumbling “leadership” of the republican party. Obama believes that we can return the United States to the world leader we used to be, and I — for one — support that. I am weary of leaders who spend more time trying to figure out how to break the law than to do something positive for the citizens of this nation, and I think most Americans feel exactly the same. We’re sick of corrupt politicians who think they’re above the law (sound like someone you know, Sarah?).
And am I hater? If that means being frustrated by criminals, narcissists, power mongers, meglomaniacs, psychopaths, and unethical politicians, then I guess I’m guilty as charged. The Alaskan legislature (majority republican) just issued its report finding Sarah Palin guilty of unethical misconduct and abuse of authority. There are two additional investigations still going on into allegations of illegal behavior on her part. This woman is as corrupt as they come. The few interviews she’s deigned to give show just what a simpleton she is. Why would any thinking person vote for this woman as president of the local PTA, much less for vice president?
The answer is simple: they wouldn’t.
No one who truly cares about this country would vote for Sarah Palin.

Did you forget that when 9/11 happened, we had a republican president? George Tenet had been screaming about bin Laden’s plans for attacking the US with airline planes, but the president didn’t have time to read the report. And the governor of New York? He was a republican, too.
