Sep.11.2007 Kanye West is absolutely insane
This was covered in this morning’s Hot Link Orgy, but it bears receiving the much-coveted “full post” treatment as well. Kanye West spoke to Z100 after the VMAs and boy was he not happy.
On Britney Spears:
“They exploited Britney in helping to end her career,” West told deejay JJ at New York radio station Z100 on Monday. “When Britney was opening [the VMA telecast], near the end, I felt so bad for her. I said, ‘Man, it’s a dirty game. This game will chew you up and spit you out.’”
You know, I agree with this one. They sacrificed Britney, knowing she’d fail (or have a stellar performance) for the sake of having a viral video. You can’t blame them, and it’s particularly apparent in the way they cut to the crowd shots during the performance, but there’s still something to be said for a company that basically thrived off of her underage sex appeal to spit her out at 24 or whatever she is.
On his participation at the Awards:
West tells Z100 he felt misled and “betrayed” by the network, and has promised to never work with MTV again. The rapper says he’s already cancelled planned appearances on TRL to promote his new album Graduation. Specifically, West takes issue with the way performances were set up – that he should have performed on the main stage and not from a private suite where many artists performed for small groups of fans throughout the telecast.
“I wasn’t mad that I just didn’t win any awards,” West says. “For me, [MTV] made it seem like performing on the main stage was a bad thing, and the suites were just so great. It was my dream when I made ‘Stronger’ to open up the VMAs with a real power performance.
Eh, every act wants top-billing. I think Kanye might be overvaluing his relevance right now a bit, but a case could be made for him to open with one of the country’s top songs. He’s a bit of an egomaniac, but I can’t fault him. Plus his most recent videos kind of suck. So that helps.
On Pamela Anderson being a skank:
Another sticking point: Pamela Anderson’s racy introduction on the telecast. (Anderson appeared in a music video for West’s single “Touch the Sky.”) Before West performed “Good Life” from his suite, the former Baywatch star told viewers, “One of the best times I’ve ever had was making out with the next performer in the middle of the desert. I think I had my tongue so far down his throat I could taste his fiancée – and I might need a repeat performance later tonight.”
“I’m engaged, and I feel like it’s disrespectful to my relationship,” West says of Anderson’s remarks, which he claims the network assured him would not happen.
Get over it dude, it’s a joke. She’s a blonde ho with jokes written by passive aggressive Jewish guys. You did what you did for that video, it’s in the past and it’s more of a statement that she’s a slut than it is one of disrespect to your fiancee. How did Tommy Lee’s c*ck taste though? I bet like chowder.
On Kelly Clarkson:
“They rather give that fat bitch Kelly Clarkson some love rather than me,” West continued. “But that’s nothing. MTV’s corporate mainstream bullsh*t. That’s why I go on Z100 dawg.”
Okay maybe he didn’t say that last one. But honestly, this guy can say anything at this point and I wouldn’t be shocked. He could declare himself the Pope of Sexy Miscellany and I’d think, “Yeah, that makes sense.”
Also how many albums can this guy name after college-related things? The new album is Graduation…he didn’t even graduate. I look forward to his next album Smoking Up the Entire Summer While Pretending to Look for a Job or perhaps Maybe Law School Cuz I Got Nothin’ Else to Do. New gimmick please.
