Aug.27.2008 An exercise ball to the face seems like fun
There’s absolutely nothing going on and real work is killing me so I give you this…a video. I know what you’re thinking…”A video on a blog? Wow, who’d have thought such a thing would be possible!” Welcome to the future folks.
So my question upon seeing this (and frankly most viral videos) is: Are people really this dumb now? Or were people always this dumb? Like I know kids always hurt themselves and whatever, but is it just that there are cameras omnipresent these days? I don’t know how this would come about and I don’t doubt some guy did this once fresh off the Great Depression, but I’m wondering if these random acts of idiocy are something unique to our current generation or if they’re something just more easily available.

I really don’t know where to start. I don’t think that this is idiocy or being dumb at all. I think it’s probably boredom. Maybe it’s all they have to play with. What else are you going to hit an exercise ball with?
Cameras are obviously more accessible. Videos are now distributed easier. Kids will be kids.
The only thing that’s dumb here is this post. Sorry.
…you don’t think throwing an exercise at someone while filming it is dumb? Or that every kid is just desperate for his Break/YouTube moment?
Yes, kids used to do, and continue to do today, dumb things out of boredom. But isn’t it counterintuitive that with the amount of protection parents do with their kids (there weren’t baby-proofers back in the 60s…most parents didn’t even force their kids to wear seatbelts), that there are more and more instances of young people hurting themselves on camera for our amusement?
